the yore captain returns to his own yore imprint on the labels 21st release. shadow city presents different visions of funky house grooves. the a sides the y theme gets deeply moving with a funky house pulse before stoking the fire with the addition of speaking voices (trippingly intoning the q&a what are we doing this for? and the music), a move which single-handedly jumpstarts the track. after the voices appear, the grooves intensity escalates and plunges deeper, its gyroscopic house swing becoming more dizzying and torrential with each passing bar before coming to an acidy storming end. in its opening moments, shadow city opts for a deeper and more serenading vibe by comparison, but thats traded in for a slinkier attack at the three-minute mark that grows progressively more ferocious as the track makes its drastic upwards ascent. a trippin dangerous murder weapon to say the least. watch your heads! the b sides b2 track, mumbai dweller keeps the focus primarily on the bottom end, specifically a strutting tribal-house funk groove thats dragged even deeper by a throbbing bass undertow, adding dark chords to it, giving this ep a darker feeling towards the end. to sum it all up: this is raw house music at its best!

with smashing contributions by electro lord legowelt from dirty brown the hague and bleep addict garçon taupe from the bourgeois slums of amsterdam, narrominded presents the fourth installment in its renowned split lp series. both sides of this split lp comprise a whole ep in length, and the contributions have in common that they are both deeply rooted in electro music.
on garçon taupes wittenburg ep, eighties infected drum computer beats and heavy bass lines pave the way for some rather cheerful and unpretentious melodies. the five tracks were mixed to tape at rude 66s triple six lounge studio, and reveal influences from electronic pioneers like yellow magic orchestra and mantronix, to todays acid freaks like luke vibert and like a tim. the end result is a catchy mixture of electro and acid.

minimal music has the reputation to create alot of little. alexander pavlenko, a talented producer from ukraine, is here to change all that and even raise the bar while he is at it! you cant deny this young mans skills for production and minimalism, no cheesy lines, no blips and blobs that we all heard a 1000 times allready. >carbon black< is one of those tunes you will instantly remember.. it sounds so crispy, so clean, so... pavlenko.. and it sticks inside your head like chewing um sticks to your hair.. the flip is no different. on >error 99< pavlenko keeps the drive a bit lower but the effectiveness is immense. dark vibes combined with even darker basslines make this one error you cant call the helpdesk for.

this release has the new single >100 mph< and 3 rad remixes. the original track rocks amped up vocals with a chicago house groove, and the remixes change it up completely. the ac slater remix adds a bit of fidget and steps up the dub, making it awesomely crunchy. ocelot switches it up and stretches the track into a 7 minute journey, adding a bit of a harder edge. finally, free blood takes things in a more digital direction and injects a slightly darker feel to the track. there s something for everyone on this 12 inch and you need to pick it up.

ia stands for 4/4 beats and the label starts with a bang with three great and quite different 4/4 tracks for many deep and tech floors, and tropic of capricorn for more chilled moments. elevator is crisp deep/tech house which slowly builds and just rocks! with a wicked solid deep bassline too that keeps things really groovy. jack o diamonds also has that clean crisp sound and groovy bass with synth stabs and lots of funk for loads of different dancefloors. its a bit more upbeat than elevator and also has wicked deep bass to keep peeps movin! saturn 5 is deeper, darker, subtle and just a massive deep phat sound which is totally awesome on any decent system, wonderful deep textures and pads - just really lush. tropic of capricorn is a deep detroity broken beat track that compliments the others. crisp production again and not too cluttered, it does what it needs to and works in many different situations.

here we go with mark-henningÆs 2nd ep on frankie recs, 3 years after his promising first strike on the label. a two tracker ep titled ôvick for president epö - we start off with the a-side ôbiggity giggityö - a track of pure madness! comprising a mix of quirky sounds and distord harmonics synths, this is a great example of markÆs ability to combine both a solid groove and a dark atmosphere at the same time.. this song definitely kills it on the floor! on the flipside ômonsterö is even darker and more mental - combining subtle synths arrangements and bleepy fxs sounds itÆs perfect for late sessionsà two beautifully sinister, outstanding cuts!

tokyo based synth outfit trans of life shows some true talent on this double sided single. their productions combine some amazing sounds as wholesome 4/4 house, deep electronic overtones, chill jazz, and latin melodies. foi voce (tol vocal) has lovely portuguese verses & melodies sung by yukiko koga. this is a full on vocal mix chill enough for the lounge and fancy enough for a 5 star dining hall. their dubs go a bit deeper and darker and are a lot more dance floor effective. the vocals turn to echoes and quasi chanting and a myriad of sounds flow in and out of this tune. the masterful original delight earth, a body & soul party favorite, show just how talented these guys are. full of trumpet solos and latin conga rhythms with plucked stringed guitars make for a sensational ride. back to the club on their dub... great package!!

after shock from the pain state of emergency returns with a new hardcore stomper! on this 3 tracker everybody gets served! call it music on the a side is a party tune with phatt kicks, a cool melody, catchy raps and a huge break! on the flip we find the darker and more uptempo track vanity. this one is for the ones who like it a bit darker. a simple but effective melody combined with a pounding kickdrum will do the trick for sure! last but certainly not least we take it a bit further with a stunning broken rules remix of game time. the man from l.a. delivers a rough stompin remix only he can do. hardcore with a techno twist is what he serves us! so this raw fuel release covers it all!

asd008 sees the return of alex krueger and a welcome one at that! this oneÆs 5 tracks deep (including a digital exclusive) and includes a pair of fine remixes from londoner-in-berlin, mark henning, ôblasted bitchö is tigerskin at his best. the title cut is a feast of sonic trickery, with sounds playing off each other beautifully to create a wide, dense soundscape which, paired with clipped percussion, clever dancefloor arrangement, evil laugh & crude vocal sample this one delivers tough. henning, a man known for his abilities with sound design himself, takes a darker route with his interpretation which, while still driving, is more of a heads down late night affair û riddled with oddball delays and some unnerving vox efx. ôwhat theö takes a turn to the darkside, moody, sharp, reveb laden and pulsing, the track is real heavy business watch out for that unholy belgian hardcore synth riff a la ômentasmö, thereÆs a real æmomentÆ in there. to round off the original cuts. responseö continues seeing tigerskin provide a straighter groove but one which displays some sterling keyboard work and strong break. finally, henning provides another remix of the title track as the digital only addition all too important these days. futuristic deep, tech-house is about as close as a description anyone needs for this superb final piece of an equally superb package.
